Families rarely begin with a clear question. More often there is a feeling: that a child would thrive in a different education system, that the family wants more options for the future, or that a career or a business might grow further somewhere else. This course helps you turn that feeling into a decision you can explain, to each other and to yourselves.
Over six short lessons you will clarify why you are considering a move and who it is for, understand the five main paths abroad and how they combine, map your constraints and timing, compare options with a weighted family decision matrix, and write a first plan. The final lesson shows you how to prepare so that any expert conversation, with us or anyone else, is genuinely useful.
There are no right answers here. The aim is not to reach a score, but to understand your own reasons clearly. Rules on visas, residency, citizenship, tax and admissions differ by country and change often, so this course helps you think; it does not replace official sources or qualified professional advice.
What you’ll be able to do
- Write a one or two sentence family goal that everyone involved agrees with.
- Explain the five paths abroad (study, residency, citizenship, career and business) and which of them could combine for your family.
- List your firm constraints, your flexible ones and the dates that cannot move.
- Build and read a weighted decision matrix comparing two or three realistic options.
- Draft a first plan with clear next steps, owners and questions to check.
- Prepare a short, focused brief for a consultation with an adviser.

Questions
No, and it is often better if you do not. Choosing a country before choosing a goal is one of the most common mistakes. This course starts with the why and only then looks at paths and places.
Not at all. The exercises are written with families in mind because that is where decisions are most complex, but they work just as well for a couple or an individual. Simply leave out the columns you do not need.
No. Rules differ by country, by nationality and by circumstance, and they change. The course helps you work out what you are looking for and which questions to ask, so that you can check the details with official sources or a qualified adviser.
The lessons take around an hour to read in total. The worksheets are best completed over two or three sittings, with time between them for conversations at home.
Yes. Each worksheet is printable and stands on its own, although they build on each other in order.
